At that time, the popular version of waffles with jam and whipped cream became popular only at the beginning of the 20th century, and now, the Lithuanian supermarket chain says, they are loved not only by dessert lovers. Which recipes will surprise even the biggest gourmets?
Reveals the secrets of perfect dosas
In many countries, waffles are already one of the irreplaceable symbols of breakfast, which Lithuanian residents love the most. Speaking about this, Maximos Head of Communication and Image Ernesta Dapkiene adds: The growing popularity of these dishes is only confirmed by the surprising jump in sales of flour mixes to cook them.
“Last year, compared to 2020, we also sold 77 percent of these products. More. This shows that the country’s residents are willing to experiment in the kitchen and are looking for filling, tasty, quick and easy alternatives for breakfast. However, the sale of flour mixes is not the only thing increasing. Last year , the purchase of dosa cakes, pies, bars, dosa with fillings and most pleasingly, healthy gluten-free versions of these products grew significantly,” says E. Dapkienė.
Brigita Baratinskaitė, head of Maxima’s food production department, encourages you to choose dishes that meet the principles of healthy eating. To do this, according to her, it is worth reducing the amount of added sugar in dosas and flavoring the dessert with, for example, agave or maple syrups. According to B. Baratinskaitė, these are good substitutes that provide enough sweetness.
“However, dosa spices are only one side of the coin. To cook them perfectly, it is worth knowing some tricks. Here, the excellence of dosa making starts with choosing the right pan. However, with the perfect dosa iron, it is important to note that it should be heated well before pouring the batter.
In addition, when preparing the dough, the eggs should be thoroughly beaten – until smooth. Then the dosas are light, soft and very fluffy. It is also important to rest the dough for about 5 minutes before cooking the first dosa. Then all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed and their true taste is revealed”, B. Baratinskaitė shares the secrets of perfect dosa.
But, he adds, these treats can be served with only sweet or traditional ingredients. Inviting you to see it for yourself, culinary experts share 3 basic dosa recipes.
